Then I thought, hmmm, wait a minute, last year I would have given anything to feel this way! The Dolphins lost their playoff game. THE DOLPHINS LOST THEIR PLAYOFF GAME! Last season, the Dolphins won ONE GAME. This year, they lost their PLAYOFF GAME! OMG! Last year at this time, I was thinking about how good it would be if the Dolphins could win 4 or 5 games this season. The Dolphins did not win 4 or 5 games this season, they more than DOUBLED that number and got themselves into the playoffs! The way the Dolphins played this year, makes me sad to see their season come to an end, but gives me hope to look forward to what they may do next season. Even though this season has just ended for the Dolphins, I am anxiously awaiting the start of training camp and next season, to see how they can build and hopefully improve on this past season. And, I can also be thankful for the Detroit Lions, who made our 1-15 season a distant memory!!!

Re: Dolphins Down Jets, Soar into Playoffs

Sparano should be strongly considered for Coach of the Year. Sure, the Fins don't have the best record in the league, but when you consider how the finished the year last year and the fact that no one gave them any chance to do well this season, Sparano has done a heck of a job. He should certainly get a great deal of consideration for the honor. Way to go Coach Sparano and the rest of the Dolphins!

Re: Closing in on the Playoffs

Great game! It would be much easier for the Dolphins if the Patriots did lose. And in the end if the Dolphins were also to lose a game (assuming its not the Jets game) they would still have the tiebreaker over the Patriots. The Dolphins aren't assured anything...Patriots or no Patriots, the Jets are still in the mix and if the Dolphins don't beat them than all this tiebreaker shit doesn't matter...so calm down

Re: AFC East Champs?

youre an absolute idiot. how can you write about the dolphins if you have no idea that for the last week, everyone knows that if they win out they go to the playoffs. douche

Re: AFC East Champs?

I don't think the Dolphins need a Pats loss. If both the Pats & the Dolphins win out they'll both be 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the division and 7-1 against the common opponents in the AFC West & NFC West. But Miami would have a better Conference record & that is tie breaker #4. I'm a big pats fan & I think the Dolphins have the inside track to the playoffs.

Re: Dolphins Lose Back and Forth Game to Pats

If it wasn't for the Pittsburgh Steelers giving pity on the Doplhins and letting them have one of the best Linebackers in football (outside of Pittsburgh ) then the Dolphins season would have crashed long before last week..Thank you Pittsburgh for the favor...

Re: Dolphins Lose Back and Forth Game to Pats

I agree, Camarillo is a decent slot WR at best...he has no business getting a half decent contract like this...he hasn't really earned it either..

Re: 2008 Season Prediction

we're 4th in the AFC. props to us.

Re: Crucial Victory

The Dolphins need to approach each game as though it is the last game of the season, with a sign posted in the locker room reminding them of their record last season. Go out there, play smart, determined football in an effort to beat last season's record. Yes, I know that they already have, but they need to forget that fact, and play their hearts out to make sure they improve over last year.

Re: Do We Praise Or Condemn Ricky Williams?

I don't know if praise is the right word to use...maybe we don't hold it against him, it is good he's overcoming his demons...at the same time who is to say he won't use after he's out of football?

Re: Skill or Luck?

I have only one thing to say.....WOW! I agree with your comments on Chad - Effective. Its exactly what we expected out of him and nothing more.

Our defense is also effective. They have shown at times to be a very decent defense and at other times they look like amateurs. Very hit or miss, but against the pats they really shined. Miami fans still can't believe it.

Re: Where Has This Team Been?

Let's hope that this game was not an aberration and that we find the Dolphins on the winning end of a few more football games. I will start getting excited about the Dolphins' prospects for the season when I see a couple more W's in the wins column. Until that time, my thoughts about the win over the Patriots are this: Wow. Cool.

Re: Shut Your Mouth Porter!

You know, I realize Matt Cassel isn't nearly as good as Tom Brady and never
will be. However, before Porter went and opened his mouth, he should have
looked at it in plain sight. The Dolphins lost, at home, to the Jets. The
following week, the Jets, also at home, lost to Matt Cassel and the
Patriots. Plain and simple, the Dolphins have no chance. Now watch, now
amazingly Cassel will be Brady-like and toss for about 300 yards and 4 tds.
Porter has always talked trash, and rarely ever backed it up. Plain and
simple, even minus Brady, the Fins are nowhere near the Patriots. 0-3, here
we come!

Re: Huge Step Backward

First, I will state that the Cardinals have a good shot at winning their
conference this year, although that's not an endorsement of their talent. Of
course the Fins have taken a huge step back. They got rid of their two best
defensive players, and they brought in a has been to play as the starting
QB. Ronnie Brown is looking fairly good coming off his injury, but Ricky
Williams is getting the bulk of the carries and hasn't produced. Based on
what they lost in the off-season, as opposed to what they brought in, you
had to assume it was going to get worse before it's going to get better. Of
course, they can't do much worse than last year, but it's clear that it will
still be a few years before we can even hope for a .500 record. Can we give
Quincy Carter another shot? Please? Ricky needs green to run well.

Re: 2008 Season Prediction

Going through the schedule, I just can't see the Dolphins putting up
anything better than 5-11, with 4-12 being much more likely. Yeah, they were
kind of competitive against the Jets, but really, the Jets aren't that good.
Fine, they have Favre, but Favre doesn't make them good. I think we would
have seen a similar result if Kellen Clemens had started for the Jets.

Bottom line is there are to many question marks all over the field. Williams
didn't look good, all though Ronnie Brown didn't look bad. The wide
receivers were virtually non-existent. The O-line didn't play particularly
well against a very average Jets D-line. I would love to see the Fins go
8-8, I would, I just think it's more likely that the Cubs will win the world
series this year.

Re: 2008 Season Prediction

I think that is a pretty bold prediction. All NFL rookies should be treated the same way. It teaches them
respect and keeps them from getting big heads. Also, if you do nothing but
give praise, there is no incentive for them to improve their skills, and
they may stay stagnant.

Re: Tough Love Works For Henne

I was going to say the same thing. Outside of the Big 10, probably not many football fans had heard of Tom Brady. But playing for Lloyd Carr prepared him for the mental toughness required to play in the NFL. If Chad Henne can even be half as good as Tom Brady, the Dolphins probably have their best possible QB successor to Dan Marino on the roster now in Chad Henne. Listen and learn Chad. The accolades will come when you have earned them.

Re: Tough Love Works For Henne

Most quarterbacks that earn their stripes under a tough guy like Lloyd Carr can mentally handle the NFL...Look at Tom Brady

Re: Its Official

I think they should keep the leash on Pennington short. This team will have a very impressive running game, and the WR will probably be enough to win some games...if Pennington and his old arm aren't getting it done lets see what Henne has to offer!

Re: Its Official

I don't find it surprising that Pennington was named the starter, he should
be based on his experience level. There are a couple things I worry about
though. I know he's a smart guy, but does he really know the playbook well
enough at this point? I guess it doesn't make a huge difference, because
even if he knows every play in the book it isn't going to make the
difference between making the team playoff bound or not, but it's worth
worrying about anyway.

I don't know that he'll need to prove he's still a top tier QB though. Think
about it, if Brady were dressing as the starting QB for the Dolphins this
year, would he look like a top tier QB? Probably not. I think regardless of
how he plays, you let him play all of this season, or at least until he
hurts his shoulder again. If anyone knows about the proper way to develop a
QB, it's Parcells. I don't think he wants to see Henne take a single snap
this entire season, and it would really serve Henne well if that turns out
to be the case.

Re: Fins Win Again

Its a long 16 game season, and injuries happen. Maybe the fins do start the season with just Ricky as their running back and Ronnie on the sidelines. But the season gets to be a grind, even for the young guys, and injuries can happen. Having Ricky start the season, and Ronnie eventually able to come in a spell Ricky, and who knows, maybe even take over later in the season as the #1 back can only help the fins avoid a late season fish fry!

Re: Fins Win Again

It is nice to see the Dolphins win, but, it is just the preseason. It doesn't count, and half the teams aren't trying. Look at the Patriots, if you were to give them a preseason letter grade as to how they'll play in the regular season, you'd say they're going to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. That, and Chiefs are going to be one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in the league this year. As my old man would say, "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then".

I don't think people will be saying Ronnie who. Remember, Brown was the best back in the league last year in terms of production before his injury. Assuming he bounces back well from the injury, he could be right back up at the top of the stats columns.
